Each R2 suit hub interconnects 50+ R2 sensors. Each sensor encloses a gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer to determine the orientation of each body part. Ultra-low power consumption means the hardware can be powered by a single battery for extended periods of time. The hardware can be used wirelessly or wired directly to your computer.
The R2 suit electronics are enclosed in stretchy performance fabrics. The sensors are secured in memory foam pads. The clothing will stretch evenly over every part of the body and fit most actors comfortably without restricting movements. Three sizes are available: small, medium and large.
R2 suits broadcast data to the software for processing. The software integrates an advanced real-time body solver to intelligently interpret the motion of each body part. The software will compute locomotion and accurately estimate floor collisions, walking, jumping, running and sitting. Data can be retargeted to character assets and broadcasted to third-party applications.
The R2 suit comes in three configurations, which differ primarily in cost and the number of sensors placed on the body. Entry level configurations can animate the whole body through kinematic solvers while high end systems use real sensors. Three configurations are available: Indie, Pro and BioMed.
All orders ship in hard Pelican cases designed to protect the equipment during travel. Lead time is approximately two weeks from when the order is placed. You will receive tracking information once the order has shipped.
Supported file formats include FBX, BVH, ASF, AMC, C3D and CSV. A raw version of the data is always backed up in our proprietary TC format. Data can be broadcasted to plugins for Unreal, Unity, Maya, Motion Builder and Blender.
The Indie suit will capture full-body motion while providing a superior level of comfort and improved battery life. This entry-level configuration uses 15 R2 sensors placed strategically throughout the body. Certain parts of the body are simulated kinematically based on surrounding sensors. This cost-effective configuration is aimed at independent developers, small studios and educational institutions. This configuration can be bundled with the Indie gloves, resulting in a 29-sensor motion capture system.

The Pro suit is a production-ready motion capture system and our bestselling suit product, delivering accurate full-body animation data. This mid-level configuration uses 18 R2 sensors placed strategically throughout the body. The Pro suit is aimed at professional animators and production houses specializing in video game development, film and television productions. This configuration can be bundled with the Pro gloves, resulting in a 40-sensor motion capture system.

The BioMed suit is the most advanced full-body motion capture system in the industry, capable of accurately measuring the articulation of the spine and the deformation of the shoulders. This high-end configuration uses 22 R2 sensors placed strategically throughout the body. The BioMed suit will produce large amounts of data for biomechanics, ergonomics, sports and medical science applications. This configuration can be bundled with the BioMed gloves, resulting in a 50-sensor motion capture system.

R2 suits retain firm foot placement and stable upper body data during walk cycles, capturing clean data as the basis for your animation. Feet colliders and procedural toes ensure that floor impacts are convincing.
R2 suits can understand when you jump, how high you jump and the direction of the jump by combining acceleration data with simulated physics. Jumps are dependable and can be edited in post-production.
R2 suits allow the actor to run using a combination of accelerations and simulated physics. Running requires accurate locomotion during repetitive fast movements and uses a mixture of walking and jumping.
R2 suits allow the actor to sit down. Many animations require the actor to sit down while having a stable upper body. The software will compute clean transitions between sitting and standing.
R2 suits have a height tracking mode allowing you to walk on uneven surfaces and climb obstacles. Vertical displacement is detected using accurate feet placements and floor plane detection.
R2 suits will produce positional drift, which can be compensated in the software using the displacement editor. Positional drift is the summation of positional inaccuracies occurring with each step.
R2 suits can be used in magnetic environment and can overcome magnetic interference. The environment will not damage the sensors. Capturing in a clean environment will result in better data.
R2 suits can be synchronized with trackers, optical stages and head-mounted cameras. Several hybrid modes are available to improve hand interactions, positional drift and drive virtual cameras or props.

By combining kinematics with simulated physics and accelerometer-based positioning, Studio uses a powerful real-time locomotion solver to determine the overall displacement and feet placements of the skeleton during walking, jumping, running and sitting. Feet placements and floor interactions are further refined using colliders.
Studio allows you to create custom skeletons, which match the posture and proportions of the actor, by using the skeleton generator or the skeleton editor. The skeleton generator creates a skeleton file based on the actor’s measurements. The skeleton editor requires reference images of the actor and manual editing to create a more accurate skeleton. Accurate skeletons improve the overall accuracy of the capture.
You can load 3D models as static, dynamic or tracked props. Static props are motionless environment objects that help you direct animation narratives. Dynamic props are hand-held objects driven by additional sensors such as tools or weapons. Tracked props are driven by external trackers, which benefit from absolute positioning.
By combining face, body and fingers data, at the mannequin level, you can now record full performances. Full performances can be retargeted directly to character assets using the character engine. Full performances can also be broadcasted to game engines and other third-party software applications in real-time.
